Electrical & Electronics Engineering is a branch of engineering that deals with electrical technology that develops devices and systems, from microchips to huge power plants. The Department came into existence in the year 2004 offering B. Tech. degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering with an intake of 60 students. In the year 2012, M. Tech in Power Systems was introduced in the Department with a sanctioned intake of 18. The department has state-of- the-art facilities and experienced faculty to train students as competent engineers. The Department helps the students maintain the balance between theoretical studies, experiential learning and extra-curricular activities. The course encompasses the fundamental aspects of power generation, transmission and distribution, power system protection, electrical machines, measurement system, control system, electronic devices and circuits, power electronics etc. and is designed to prepare the students to meet the demands of the industry. Emphasis is also given to emerging technologies like high voltage engineering, power semiconductors and digital signal processing.
The specialization in Power System focuses on subjects like power quality, power system dynamics, control and operation of power systems etc. Special importance is given to the final year project considering the latest advances in power system sector.
Vision
To develop empowered, employable and ethical graduates competent to face the existing challenges in technical know-how and to contribute effectively to existing changes happening in the various domains of electrical engineering.
Mission
The department of electrical engineering supports the mission of MCET to produce excellent professionals with social commitment through teaching, research and service designed to provide the very best undergraduate electrical engineering possible.
We are committed to provide with our students with a strong theoretical foundation, practical engineering skills, experience in interpersonal communication and team work with emphasis on professional conduct and critical thinking. We emphasize and support training necessary to prepare our graduates for successful engagement in commercial and industrial enterprise, research and development and for practice as professional engineers.
