Established in 2005, the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Mohandas College of Engineering and Technology is driven by a transformative vision — to develop technically proficient, research-oriented, and industry-ready mechanical engineers capable of addressing complex global challenges. Rooted in the core principles of engineering science and enriched by emerging technologies, the department provides a dynamic academic ecosystem where innovation meets application.

Mechanical Engineering encompasses a broad spectrum of disciplines including Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, Engineering Mechanics, Dynamics of Machinery, Machine Design, Materials Science and Metallurgy, Manufacturing Technology, CAD/CAM, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Mechatronics, Robotics, Industrial Engineering, Renewable Energy Systems, and Advanced Production Technologies. The department integrates these domains through rigorous coursework, laboratory experimentation, simulation-based learning, and project-driven exploration.

Functioning under the academic framework of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, the curriculum emphasizes analytical modelling, numerical methods, system design, automation, sustainable engineering practices, and interdisciplinary innovation. Students gain hands-on exposure to design optimization, thermal system analysis, manufacturing processes, material characterization, and smart engineering systems — equipping them to contribute effectively in sectors such as aerospace, automotive, energy, marine, automation, and advanced manufacturing.
