Dr. Sheela Evangeline Y
B.Tech, M.Tech(IITM), Ph.D (IITD)
Graduated from the College of Engineering, Trivandrum , received her M. Tech degree from Indian Institute of Technology, Madras and Ph.D from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
She has 31 years of experience in teaching and 2 years in the industry. Served College of Engineering, Trivandrum, at different levels from advisor for UG, PG students to Research Coordinator. She has supervised a number of M.Tech thesis of the University of Kerala as well as KTU, published 65 papers, and is a registered research guide of the KTU. She has undertaken 5 sponsored research projects related to Geoenvironmental Engineering and Coir Geotextiles.
She has co-authored a book “Coir Geotextiles- for sustainable infrastructure” and contributed articles to three books.
Received Appreciation Award from Indian chapter of The International Geosynthetic Society for the year 2018-19.
She was one of the organizing Secretaries of International Conference on Materials, Mechanics and Management in 2017.Presently Executive Committee member for iGRIP (Initiative for Geotechnical Research and Innovative Practice) a unique single source platform for information on Geotechnical Engineering for teaching and learning initated by IIT Gandhinagar.
ICI Trivandrum Chapter acknowledged her for guiding best Ph.D thesis of the year ’22-’23.

Department of Civil Engineering
Civil Engineering B.Tech programme at Mohandas College of Engineering and Technology, Anad, Nedumangad started in 2013-14, successfully in 2016-17. The department is equipped with best facilities and committed faculty to provide knowledge on theoretical and practical aspects of different areas of Civil Engineering. Mission of the Department is to impart high quality education and training to encourage independent thinking and initiatives in students and to enable them to take up jobs in India and abroad in any area of Civil Engineering and to conduct research in advanced Civil Engineering and interdisciplinary areas. They are moulded for life long learning, social responsibility and ethical conduct, and professional competence to contribute towards the advancement of the individual and the society. Civil Engineering is a continuously evolving discipline. As technology has advanced the challenges facing the modern civil engineer has also increased. The course is designed to have an effective blend of engineering applications and mathematical rigor on students.
ADD-ON and Bridge Courses are provided by the department for all students with a view to make them employable, exposing them to new areas. Such courses include STAADPro (Analysis and design software), Primavera and Microsoft Project (Project Management software), AutoCAD, REVIT, etc. All the participating students will be provided with certificates.
Seminar Hall
The seminar hall of the department is equipped with facilities for conducting video lectures, technical presentations and student seminars. A conference hall is also provided for conducting department meetings and meetings with parents, guests etc.
Department Library
Apart from the Central Library, the department provides with high grade books which enables the students’ access to standard text books and detailed references. Practical project based reports and new technology seminar reports are also provided in the library. A fair number of technical periodicals, journals, magazines and GATE preparation books are available.
Placement Status.
Department is striving to provide best placement opportunities for the students and better career through career guidance classes. Opportunities for placement are available in core areas like building construction, highways, airport development, water supply systems in Government and Private Sectors and abroad also. Students have been placed in CORE companies, software companies and highly reputed companies through campus recruitment.
Lab Facilities
All the labs are independent and fully equipped with the State of the facilities, which include Survey Lab, Strength of Materials Lab, Concrete Lab, Transportation Engineering Lab, Geotechnical Engineering Lab, Environmental Engineering Lab, CAD Lab etc. Special equipment include Universal Testing Machine, Total Stations and GPS, Theodolites and Levelling Instruments, Compaction factor & Flow test apparatus, Izod and Charpy Impact test, Brinell and Rockwell Hardness Tests, Rebound Hammer test, Los Angeles Abrasion Test, Proctor Compaction and CBR Test.
