Dr. Sheela Evangeline Y., graduated from the College of Engineering, Trivandrum, earned her M.Tech from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras and Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. She brings over 37 years of teaching experience to her academic and research endeavors. At College of Engineering, Trivandrum (CET), she has held several prominent roles, including  Advisor for PG and UG students, Lab in-Charge, Executive Committee Member of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), Research Coordinator, Advisor for North East Students, Coordinator for Faculty and Staff  Development Training Programmes (FSDTP) etc.

Over the course of her academic career, Dr. Sheela has supervised 25 M.Tech theses under the University of Kerala as well as KTU, guided three Ph.D. scholars. She has also organized numerous workshops and short-term training programs for faculty development. Her research contributions include the publication of 70 papers and the successful completion of five sponsored research projects in the areas of Geoenvironmental Engineering and Coir Geotextiles, with a total funding of ₹2.5 crores.

Dr. Sheela is the co-author of the book ‘Coir Geotextiles – For Sustainable Infrastructure’ and has contributed chapters to three other books. She also was one of the Organizing Secretaries for the International Conference on Materials, Mechanics, and Management (IMMM) in 2017.

Additionally, she has served  as an Executive Committee Member of the Initiative for Geotechnical Research and Innovative Practice (iGRIP) initiated by IIT Gandhinagar and as a consultant to the Coir Board on geotextiles also a life member of both the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) and the Indian Geotechnical Society (IGS).

Her achievements have been recognized through several awards, including:

• Appreciation Award from the Indian Chapter of the International Geosynthetics Society for 2018–2019.
• Appreciation Award for guiding the Best Ph.D. Thesis of the year 2022–2023 from the Trivandrum Chapter of the Indian Concrete Institute
