Membership in Professional Bodies

All teachers of the department are life members of ISTE. Many students of the department are student – members of ISTE. In addition to the Civil Engineering Students Association (Scultura), the Department has two other Professional Student Chapters namely.

1) Student Chapter of the Institution of Engineers (India)
2) Student Chapter of the Indian Concrete Institute.

The student chapters are a forum for students to thrive towards total personality and for soft skill development with the coordination of the faculty of the department. Many programmeshave been organized through the student chapters for the benefit of the students namely talks by eminent personalities like DrMahen Mahendran (Australia), Dr. LaluMangal (Rtd Professor, TKM College of Engineering), Dr Jayakumar (CEO Vizhinjam Project), Er. Ramya (Pollution Control Board), Er. Prabhakaran, Former CE ISRO, Mr Biju Balakrishnan (Director, Advent Consulting, Australia), Dr. Vinod (CED), Prof Thankamony (Rtd Professor, CET), Shelly S Fernandez, Director, QcreteReadymix (India) Pvt.Ltd, Mr. Anwar Hussain (Local Self Government Department), MrElangovan (Former Director, NATPAC), etc. The students have participated in competitions organized by the student chapters like World Water Day, Concrete Cube Strength Competition, Colloquium Sponsored events etc.

27 students participated in the workshop organized on 25 and 26th April, 2018.
