FDP on Open Source Tools for Engineering Applications
Faculty Development Programme on Open Source Tools for Engineering Applications:Hands on Training is scheduled from 22nd to 26th August 2022. Sponsored by KTU and organised by Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, MCET.
About The Course
The program provides an opportunity to understand the significance of open source tools such as Scilab & Python for engineering applications. It also provides hands-on training in signal processing and communication engineering areas using Scilab & Python. This program also enables faculty members to conduct various theory and laboratory courses in different branches of engineering.
Course Contents
- Introduction to Open Source Tools, Scilab & its applications.
- Introduction to DSP/DFT/IDFT and Hands-on using Scilab.
- FFT/Butterfly Diagram/ Filter Design and Hands-on using Scilab.
- Introduction to Base Band Digital Communication/ISI and Hands-on using Scilab.
- Eye Diagram/BPSK/QPSK and Hands-on using Scilab.
- Channel Coding Techniques and Hands-on using Python.
- Course Outcome
At the end of the course, the participants will be able to:
- understand the significance of Open Source Tools, Scilab & its applications.
- study the applications of Scilab in signal processing domain.
- acquire knowledge on the use of Scilab in communication techniques.
- familiarize with the implementation of speech processing in Python.
- learn channel coding techniques using Python.
KTU Sponsored Faculty Development Programme on “DEEP LEARNING AND NEURAL NETWORKS”
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering has successfully conducted a Faculty Development Programme on “Deep Learning and Neural Networks”sponsored by APJ Abdul KalamTechnological University (KTU). The FDP was conducted from 5th July to 9th July, 2021 in online mode.
The program was inaugurated by Dr.Jiji C V, Principal, College of Engineering Trivandrum and has shared his thoughts and ideas about the trends and development in the field of Communication through Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.Dr. S Sheela,Principal MCET delivered the welcome address.Dr.AshalathaThampuran Executive Director,MCET delivered the presidential address.Dr. S Shabu,Convenor, HOD,Department of ECE gave a brief introduction on theFaculty Development Programme on “Deep Learning and Neural Networks”.Prof. Sandhya S, Coordinator, FDP proposed vote of thanks. More than 80 faculty members from various KTU affiliated Engineering colleges participated in the FDP.
The participants got Hands-on sessions from the eminent resource persons which was very beneficial for beginners as well as research scholars in the field of Machine learning and Deep learning.
Sessions were handled by the following resource persons
Dr. Ajeesh Ramanujan, (Assistant Professor, Department of CSE, College of Engineering, Trivandrum) gave an “overview on Deep Learning and Neural Networks”.
Dr. Lizy Abraham (Dean, Research and consultancy, LBS Institute of Technology for Women, Poojappura) gave an informative session on “Open CV basics and Deep Learning with Open CV with Hands-ON”.
Prof. Siju K S (Associate Professor, Saintgits College of Engineering, Kottayam) gave an interactive and hands-on session on “Neural Networks”.
Prof. Sumod Sundar (Assistant Professor, Centre for Artificial Intelligence, TKM College of Engineering, Kollam) gave a brainstorming session on “Deep Neural Networks and DL-CNN”.
Prof. Nithin Prince John (Assistant Professor, Saintgits College of Engineering Kottayam), gave an icebreaking session about the world of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Deep Learning. He also shared an insightful session on “Training and deploying Machine Learning models on Edge devices with HANDS-ON training”.
FDP on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering has successfully conducted a Faculty Development Programme on “Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning” from 16th July to 20th July, 2018.The Department organizes a national conference every year for P G students, a technical festival every year for UG students and jointly conducts a symposium every three years.
