Music Club
The music club is scheduled for first year students during the seventh hours of Day1 and Day4. The club comprises of 26 students who have great passion for both vocal and instrumental music. A group was selected among them as a college band and their practice takes place every Fridays. The club hours were engaged by different staff members. During the club hours, different games and discussions on music were held. Music comprises of classical, contemporary, light, western etc depending on the choice of the students. On certain days, games like antakshari were played to entertain the students.
Quiz Club
The quiz club of MCET has been created for motivating and encouraging the students to quest for knowledge and actively participate in the quiz competitions. The main aim of this club is to conduct periodical quizzes on specific topics like Current Affairs, General Knowledge, Sports, Literature and History, etc. among the students of the club. The students will be informed about the topic of the quiz in advance and they will be come prepared for that. They will be formed in groups and the quiz will be conducted for all branches of S1S2 students on every Friday last hour.
In the first day freshers were given guidance on the conduct of quiz competitions in the college. Student representatives from each branch were selected. Students in charge from senior batches were selected.
At the beginning session, seniors were asked to conduct quiz for S1S2 batches under the supervision of the respective staff members allotted for each branch.
Software Club
Software club is conducted to improve software skills in students. First year students from various branches are active members of this club. Training was given on MS Power Point as a starting phase. For handling the club, various software like Adobe Photoshop, Flash etc., were loaded. Student representatives from each branch were selected. Students in charge from senior batches were also selected for the proper functioning of the club. A workshop was conducted for S3 students.
Dance Club
Dance club aims to enhance their cultural skills in addition to academic skills. Dance club activities were conducted for all branches of S1S2 students on Day 1 and Day 4. Student representatives from each branch were selected. Students in charge from senior batches were selected.
Painting Club
Painting club is conducted for first year students every year. In each class they were given a theme to be exhibited by either pencil drawing or water colour painting. During last year various famous artists in the painting field come to conduct workshops in the campus.
The painting club of MCET has been actively nurturing the budding artists among MCET students from the beginning itself. Against the normal activities of the club which included glass painting,oil painting etc earlier ,the theme for this year 2022 is painting club activity revolved around mural art.This year’s activity was hence inaugurated by an eminent artist in this field Smt.Uma who gave the general guidelines to students to do murals.The works done by the students were submitted by the end of the semester.An exhibition cum sale of the above works alongwith works done by artists within the MCET fraternity will be conducted in the coming semester under the auspices of the painting club.
Drama Club
Various workshops are conducted by eminent artists on acting, dialogue delivery and script writing during the last year.
Literary Club
A literary club is organized by MCET in every academic year to improve the literary skills in students. First year students from various branches are active members of this club.
It was an interactive session. There was active participation of students. The students were regularly given topics for essay writing & short story writing( in English, Malayalam, Hindi) & made to write on the given topics. Elocution, recitation & poetry writing in Malayalam & English were also conducted.
Every Friday the last hour is assigned for the club activities. interested students assemble in the library for the literary club. They had to do simple but skillful tasks like analysing the books they read from a view point of a critic and write critical review. A special session by the famous writer.
Ms.Shalini V Nayar was arranged for the students. She taught them the different aspects in writing books, social problems faced by authors, stand of authors in the community, how to become a successful author etc. Our Director Dr.Ashalatha Thampuran also motivated them in various ways to write reviews, reading different genres of books etc. All together it was a great experience for the students.
Photography/Videography Club
Photography Club of MCET conducted discussions based on the articles related to photography. The photos taken during various college events were shown to club members. Students took photos of various events conducted as part of Colloquium and Sports day. Organized a one day workshop on natural photography.Various Workshops on photography are conducted by eminent photographers during the last year.
Videography club creates awareness programs to students about how to operate a video camera, how to make documentary film and how to edit it.
The Photography/Videography club is an active club in our college. In the academic year,2022 around 40 members joined the club. Members were added in to the club on the basis of their interest in acquiring skills in the respective area. The purpose of this club is to polish the additional skills of the students. Students bring their camera to capture different moments from college atmosphere, compete and enjoy to create memories that will be cherished forever.Various lecture sessions on Photoshop software were engaged by the senior students and helped in improving the skills of junior students.
The club aims to give a chance and encourage students to involve in taking video and photographs of various events conducted in the college premises in order to improve their photography and videography skills. The interest and enthusiasm of student’s are very much appreciated.
